Herkimer Community College Physical Therapy Assistant students had the opportunity to visit The School at Springbrook’s physical therapy department. Led by Physical Therapist Faye Huntington, this annual visit allowed students to dive into real-world learning through equipment demonstrations and interactive Q&A sessions. The students explored the benefits of various supportive devices tailored for people with disabilities. They also tried the equipment themselves, gaining firsthand experience and a deeper understanding of its mechanisms and functionality. As October is National Physical Therapy Month, it’s a perfect time to recognize and celebrate the physical therapy profession, spotlighting the many benefits it offers and the significant impact that physical therapists and assistants have on improving health in our communities. We hope this enriching experience inspired the Herkimer students and deepened their understanding of this vital field!
