Hartwick College student teachers have been interning at The School at Springbrook to prepare students for real-life scenarios in the teaching world.

Since January 3rd, four Hartwick College student teachers have been interning at The School at Springbrook for a “mini-practicum” program to prepare students for real-life scenarios in the teaching world. This program is part of Hartwick’s January Term (J-Term), providing opportunities for students to pursue an academic passion in the community, on campus, or across the globe. The four student teachers – Abigail Murray, Samantha Grant, Joshua Titus, and Grace Ollendike, are completing four weeks of classroom training with a designated certified special education teacher at The School at Springbrook to provide a unique, immersive experience. The experience includes observing and learning from the teacher, planning and implementing lessons, and trying new methods of instruction. Each student keeps a reflective journal and completes various assignments throughout their experience. On Monday, January 22nd, the student teachers were joined by Hartwick College president, Dr. James H. Mullen, Jr. to discuss the ongoing partnership between Springbrook and Hartwick.
