This week’s Donor Dollars at Work post highlights the start of a much-anticipated fall sports season at Springbrook. Springbrook’s Special Olympic athletes compete in four certified sports throughout the year; Basketball, Soccer, Track and Field, and Cross Country.

Soccer tryouts were held this Tuesday and Thursday. The soccer team is looking forward to another successful season of developing skills and working on their goals.  The Springbrook Scorpions soccer team represents just a few of the approximately 62,000 Special Olympics athletes in New York State and the 1.2 million Special Olympics athletes that compete worldwide.

“Athletics provides a new motivation to change for the better,” said head coach and Adapted Physical Education teacher, Jonathan Philby. “Donors provide the support necessary to travel to the games and the equipment necessary for practice and competition.”
