Walker, a student in Springbrook’s Golisano Center for Autism, enjoys warming up for Adapted Phys Ed (APE) class on a rebounder, or one-person trampoline. His teacher Jon Philby, uses balancing and bouncing activities for students to relieve tension, focus attention, and increase their body awareness. Thanks to a grant from the NYS Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (NYSAHPERD), our students now have a new rebounder and balance training tools for APE class! These prepare students to work on their goals for strength, coordination, and sport-specific skills. Jon is at the top of his game, winning recognition from the NYSAHPERD statewide professional association as well as this equipment grant!
Thanks to the NYSAHPERD for supporting Springbrook’s APE program, and for recognizing Jon Philby’s great work!
